Q - Who is eligible to apply for pro bono legal services at your firm?
A - To be eligible for pro bono legal services at our firm, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Have a total household income of less than RM3,000.00;
First time offender; and
Be facing charges where the punishment is not less than 2 years of imprisonment.
Q - What types of cases are covered under the pro bono program?
A - Our pro bono program covers a wide range of legal issues, excluding drug consumption or abuse cases. However, please note that the pro bono service does not extend to the appeal stage of the legal process.
A - Are there any exceptions to the income requirement?
Q - Unfortunately, we do not make exceptions to the income requirement as it is a crucial factor in determining eligibility for our pro bono services.
Q - What documentation is required to prove income eligibility?
A - Applicants will be required to provide documentation such as supporting letter fro. Their employer, supporting letter by local leaders (penghulu or imam kariah) or other forms of income verification to demonstrate that their household income falls below the RM3,000.00 threshold.
Q - Can individuals with pending appeals apply for pro bono services?
A - No, our pro bono services do not extend to the appeal stage of legal proceedings. We focus our assistance on initial legal matters.
Q - How can I apply for pro bono legal services at your firm?
A - Interested individuals can apply for pro bono legal services by submitting the Pro Bono form via our website or contacting our firm directly and requesting an application. Once received, the applicant must fill out the application completely and provide all required documentation.
Q - How long does the application process take?
A - The time frame for processing pro bono applications may vary depending on the volume of requests and the complexity of each case. However, we strive to review and respond to applications in a timely manner.
Q - Can I receive pro bono services if I have already hired a private attorney?
A - Unfortunately, individuals who have already retained a solicitors are not eligible for pro bono services through our firm. Our pro bono resources are reserved for those who cannot afford legal representation otherwise.
